“Cloning” Material in IdeaMason
One question we get frequently from new users is whether IdeaMason supports “cloning,” which is essentially re-use of the same material repeatedly in multiple contexts.
This capability is actually integral to IdeaMason, though we do not necessarily call it “cloning.” To us, it is simply our capability, through our Composition technology, to use and reuse a single piece of material multiple times in the same or different compositions.
Any Material can be added multiple times to any composition at any level. Each entry in the composition is essentially a pointer or reference to the original, so editing the text in the original changes the text for all.
Furthermore, if you have groups of such items/composition nodes you can copy the group of nodes and paste them in different places in the composition.
